Everett Public Schools serves more than 20,000 students in 27 schools across Everett and portions of Mill Creek and Bothell, Washington. For the 2026–27 school year, the district is currently planning for students in grades 1–12 to begin on September 2, 2026, with kindergarten students expected to begin September 8, 2026. However, Everett Public Schools currently states that these dates and the full student calendar are not yet final, because the official calendar is part of collective bargaining.

At-a-Glance Summary

Everett Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027 | Printable PDF

Here’s what every Everett parent needs to know right away:

  • First day of school for grades 1–12: September 2, 2026
  • First day for kindergarten, developmental kindergarten, preschool, GOAL, and STRIVE: September 8, 2026
  • Last day of school: June 22, 2027 (early release for all students)
  • Next upcoming holiday from the start of the year: Labor Day, September 7, 2026

A quick note on total school days: the official at-a-glance calendar released by Everett Public Schools does not publish an exact instructional-day count on the document itself. Washington state requires a minimum of 180 school days per year, and Everett’s calendar is built around that standard. If you need the exact certified day count for attendance or payroll purposes, check directly with the district office, since we don’t want to guess a number that isn’t printed on the official document.

Early Release Days and Learning Improvement Friday (LIF)

Everett schedules regular early release days throughout the year, each shortened by two and a half hours: November 6, 2026; December 18, 2026; April 2, 2027; June 4, 2027; and June 22, 2027 (the last day of school, with early release for everyone).

On top of that, the calendar includes Learning Improvement Friday, running from September 4, 2026, through June 11, 2027. On these Fridays, all students are released 75 minutes early unless the district notes otherwise. If you rely on after-school care, mark these Fridays separately from the regular early release days above, since the release time is different.

Graduation Dates for 2027

Seniors and families, here’s when each high school holds its ceremony:

GraduationDate
Transition graduation (Project Search, GOAL, STRIVE)June 16, 2027
Sequoia HS graduationJune 17, 2027
Cascade HS graduationJune 19, 2027
Jackson HS graduationJune 19, 2027
Everett HS graduationJune 19, 2027

Note that three of the four high school ceremonies land on the same day, June 19, 2027. If you have family members graduating from different Everett high schools, or you’re trying to attend more than one ceremony, plan around this overlap early.

About Everett Public Schools

Everett Public Schools, officially Everett School District No. 2, serves most of the city of Everett along with Mill Creek and parts of unincorporated Snohomish County, including Eastmont, Martha Lake, Mill Creek East, and Silver Firs. The district runs 27 schools and enrolled 20,727 students during the 2025-26 school year, with about 1,207 teachers on staff. Dr. Ian B. Saltzman serves as superintendent. The district’s four comprehensive high schools are Cascade, Everett, Henry M. Jackson, and Sequoia. Everett Public Schools falls under the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for reporting and oversight.

What Parents in Snohomish County Should Know This Year

A few things stand out on this year’s calendar. First, kindergarten, developmental kindergarten, preschool, GOAL, and STRIVE students start a week later than everyone else, on September 8 instead of September 2. Double-check which start date applies to your child so you don’t show up on the wrong morning.

Second, the November conference days (November 2-3) only cancel school for elementary and middle school students. High schoolers still have a full school day those two days, so don’t assume the whole family gets the break.

Third, spring conferences in March work the same way in reverse: elementary students are out March 29-30, but middle and high schoolers attend full days. This split schedule catches a lot of parents off guard if they’re used to a district where everyone is off on the same days.

Finally, remember this entire calendar is still pending board approval as of the date on the official document, with final approval. Keep checking the district website through early September in case any dates shift.

How Everett Compares to Neighboring Districts

Everett shares Snohomish County with several other districts, including Mukilteo, Marysville, Lake Stevens, and Snohomish School District. Most Snohomish County districts follow a similar general shape for the school year, starting in early September and wrapping up by mid-to-late June, with Labor Day off, a winter break spanning the December holidays, and a spring break in early-to-mid April. That said, exact start dates, spring break weeks, and early release schedules can differ from one district to the next, and neighboring districts’ 2026-27 calendars may still be pending approval as well. If you have kids in more than one district, or you’re comparing school options in the area, check each district’s own official calendar page directly rather than assuming the dates line up with Everett’s.

Planning a Family Trip? Best Times to Travel

If you’re trying to plan travel around the school calendar, Winter Break (December 21, 2026, through January 1, 2027) is your longest stretch of the year, giving you a solid block of time for longer trips, including holiday travel to see family out of state. Spring Break, April 5-9, 2027, is the next best option and tends to be a popular week for domestic trips and warmer-weather getaways, so book flights and hotels early if you’re planning around it. Mid-Winter Break, February 15-19, 2027, is a shorter but still useful window, especially for a quick trip or a long weekend, since it includes Presidents Day. Avoid planning trips around the single-day holidays like Veterans Day or MLK Jr. Day unless you’re comfortable pulling your child out for just that one day, since school is only closed for that single day.

School Closings History in Snohomish County

Snow and ice are the most common reasons for unplanned closures in this part of Washington, typically affecting a handful of days most winters, concentrated between late December and February. Everett’s 2026-27 calendar already builds in potential inclement weather make-up days starting June 23, 2027, right after the scheduled last day of school. If the district doesn’t need those days for weather closures, they typically get dropped and summer break starts as planned. Always check the district’s official channels (website, Facebook, or local news) on snowy mornings rather than assuming school is canceled.
